Domina its geography the imposing Monte Perdido, 3,355 m, the highest limestone massif in Western Europe, with the tops of the Three Sorores or Treserols. Monte Perdido, Cylinder and Pico A\u00f1isclo -Soum of Ramond-, from which derived mode arms the valleys of Ordesa, A\u00f1isclo, Escua\u00edn and Pineta, chiselled by the respective waters Arazas, Bell\u00f3s, Yaga and Cinca rivers.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 13, 1982, with Law 52\/1982 the Park was extended and re-classified under the current name. Currently the park has different forms of protection apart from the National Park, in 1977 it was declared a Biosphere Reserve, in 1988 Special Protection Area for Birds, and in 1997 it became a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park constitutes a first-rate geographical unit. The imposing Monte Perdido overlooks its orography, 3,355 m., Being the largest calcareous mountain massif of Western Europe, with the tops of the Tres Sorores or Treserols: Monte Perdido, Cilindro and Pico de A\u00f1isclo -Soum de Ramond-, from where they derive arms mode the valleys of Ordesa, A\u00f1isclo, Escua\u00edn and Pineta, chiselled by the respective waters of the rivers Arazas, Bell\u00f3s, Yaga and Cinca. The complicated geological and morphological history, together with a rigorous climate, have resulted in a high altitude and the presence of steep slopes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The landscape shows great contrasts. In the highlands, the extreme aridity of the karst deserts predominates, where rainwater and meltwater seep through the ground through cracks and sinkholes.
